First off, let me start by saying that I didn't forget that we needed to have a 200 follower giveaway! That will be at the end of this post...
This past Thursday my aunt texted me to ask if I had a baby boy quilt she could buy for a coworker who is expecting a baby boy. Since we are moving in the next couple months, I've been packing all my stuff thinking I wouldn't have a need to get into it until we get into a different place. So of course, that meant I needed to pull out my large and very heavy been of fabric! Ack! The quilt needed to be completed and shipped to arrive before the show the following Thursday!
I had to wait until my hub could get home and help me get into the bin, since other bins were stacked on top of it. Thursday afternoon since I couldn't get into the fabric I went through Allison's book and Camille's first book to find myself a quick pattern. I decided on Camille's "Little Man" quilt and I started cutting asap.
Friday morning, I sat my kids down in front of the tv while I pieced the top. That afternoon, I completed the top, basted, quilted, and bound the quilt.
Saturday morning, I added my Finding Sweet Land tag, and a handwritten label that will be filled in when the baby is born.
The quilt measures an approx. 40" square since I left off the borders. The fabric is mostly Michael Miller including the solid white Cotton Couture sashing. The exception is the green which is a Denyse Schmidt fabric from Joanns. The backing is a blue plaid from the Wheels collection by My Minds Eye for Riley Blake.
Now for the giveaway! Thank you to all of you for becoming a follower of my blog. I've thought many times about where I want to go with this blog, and though my dreams are big, I have yet to fully commit to making it more than it is...it's just not the right timing for me and my family. So right now, I'm grateful for all 201 of you! This giveaway is for you!
While at Quilt Market, I picked up some swag specifically for this occasion! Above, is a pin and embroidery pattern from Mo Bedell's award winning booth which showcased her upcoming line Full Moon Lagoon, AND a DIY kit from the ever so fabulous gals of Art Gallery Fabrics which includes the three pre-cut butterflies you see on the cover photo. I think I will also throw in some suprise goodies.. :)
